Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gateswill headline a convention of hotel owners in Philadelphia.
He’ll speak at the annual convention and trade show of the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, which is expected to bring 4,000 attendees to the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The convention opens Wednesday night and goes through March 22. Speeches and panel discussions throughout the four-day event are “designed to show hotel owners how to make money, save money, and protect their investment.”
Gates served as Defense Secretary under President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama. Gates’ appearance is part of the convention’s tradition of inviting “today’s most prominent newsmakers,” the trade association said.
A debate of political issues is planned between former U.S. Sen. Fred Thompson(R-Tenn.) and President Obama’s former press secretary, Robert Gibbs, moderated by Christina Bellantoni, editor-in-chief of the Capitol Hill newspaper Roll Call.
The Asian American Hotel Owners Association, which was founded in 1989, has 12,500 members with ownership of 20,000 hotels — more than 40 percent of all U.S. hotels.
